Southbound 215 Freeway Closure Due To Big-Rig Fire

The shutdown was in Riverside.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A tractor-trailer that caught fire Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 215 in Riverside prompted a SigAlert and closure of all southbound lanes.

The incident was reported at 4:13 p.m. south of Martin Luther King Blvd., according to the California Highway Patrol.

As of 4:45 p.m., all southbound lanes remained closed except the HOV and #1 lane. The CHP estimated the closures would last until approximately 5:15 p.m.

As of 5:19 p.m., the #2 and #3 lanes reopened.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Preliminary CHP reports indicate the big rig was an Amazon truck.
