Southwest Riverside To See Rain, Cold Front This Weekend

Rain and chilly conditions were expected to arrive in Riverside County from a storm system moving out of the Pacific Northwest.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Potential rain and a cold snap were forecast for Southwest Riverside County this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A storm system rolling out of the Pacific Northwest is expected to bring the fall season's first appreciable precipitation.

"Cloud coverage is expected to increase into Saturday
ahead of a trough of low pressure which will dig south into
Western United States this weekend," NWS forecasters wrote. "The incoming low pressure is expected to generate areas of showers for areas in and west of the mountains."

While Friday maintained warmer temperatures across Southwest Riverside, Saturday was expected to bring a high of 67 degrees and south winds pushing 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph possible, NWS said. There is a 20% chance of rain during the day on Saturday, while the evening will bring a 50% chance.

Less than a tenth of an inch of rainfall was possible.

Sunday will bring partly sunny skies, a high of nearly 68 degrees and a chance of showers before 11 a.m. Wind gusts could also kick up to 20 mph. There is a 20% chance of rain during the day, but the nighttime is expected to maintain clear skies.

The nighttime lows across the area will hang around the mid 40s.

In Temecula, the forecast is identical with slightly lower daytime temperatures on Saturday and Sunday.
