Teen Dies Days After RivCo Fire That Killed 3 Dogs: Report
A memorial service for the 14-year-old Central Middle School student will be held on Dec. 20.
JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A 14-year-old boy died two days after he was pulled from a fire that destroyed a one-story house and killed three dogs, according to officials and reports.
As reported by KTLA, the 14-year-old boy was identified by his family as Zakaria Diaz, a student at Central Middle School in Riverside.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Rubidoux Mortuary, 6091 Mission Blvd., Riverside, according to an online obituary posting.

The boy was hospitalized on Dec. 5 after becoming trapped inside a burning single-story home around 2 a.m. that morning, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported.
Three dogs also died in the fire, according to ABC7 reports.

While Zakaria was rescued from the burning home, he suffered severe injuries and smoke inhalation.
"He was in a deep sleep, and they had to break a window to get him out," the boy's father told ABC7.
The school's principal also commented on his death in a statement, according to KTLA.
"It is with profound sadness that we must inform you of the passing of a Central Middle School student. Eighth grader, Zakaria Diaz, died on Saturday, December 7 after being injured in a house fire in Jurupa Valley," according to the statement.
Central Middle School did not immediately respond to Patch for comment.
