Where To Dispose Of Hazardous Waste In Lake Elsinore
This weekend, Riverside County is hosting an event for residents to drop off paint products, electronic waste, pesticides and more.
LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Do you have old or unused paint thinners, televisions, antifreeze, cleaners, expired medications or pesticides sitting around your home?
This weekend in Lake Elsinore, you can dispose of them for free thanks to the Riverside County of Waste Resources.
On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can take advantage of a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event at 512 North Langstaff St.

Here's what will be accepted:
- Paint Products: Paint, stain, varnish, adhesive, paint thinner, resin, epoxy, caulking and wood preservatives.
- Automotive Products: Used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, gasoline, diesel, automotive chemicals, brake fluid and transmission fluid.
- Universal Wastes: Batteries, fluorescent tubes & bulbs, light ballasts, smoke detectors and mercury thermostats.
- Electronic Waste: Televisions, monitors, computers and electronic devices.
- Lawn/Garden Products: Pesticides, herbicides, poisons, fertilizers, mothballs, garden chemicals, flea powder, BBQ propane tanks and kerosene lamp oil.
- Household Products: Cleaners, degreasers, aerosol cans, drain openers, disinfectants, pool chemicals, air fresheners, lighter fluid, nail polish, hair bleach and cooking oil.
- Health Care Products: Needles, sharps and unused medication (except controlled substances).
Here's what will NOT be accepted:
- Ammunition and explosives
- Appliances, tires or trash
- Asbestos
- Containers larger than 5 gallons or 50 pounds
- Remediation or radioactive waste (except smoke detectors)
- Compressed gas cylinders greater than 40 pounds
- Controlled substances and infectious waste (except sharps)
- Out-of-County or business-generated waste (including but not limited to real estate and non-profit)
