Wildomar Street Lights Still Dark Amid Public Safety Power Shutoffs
The City of Wildomar once again alerted drivers to watch out for darkened intersections as residents await the full return of power.

WILDOMAR, CA — Drivers were asked to stay focused while driving through Wildomar intersections, as many of them remain affected after the recent power outages.
"Quite a few signals/intersections in Wildomar are without power due to the wind and Public Safety Power outages," a city spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon.
They suggested drivers exercise caution and treat those darkened signals like a stop sign.

It's been over a week since Public Safety Power Outages due to rising Santa Ana winds began affecting many Wildomar homes and streets.
"The California Department of Transportation is notifying the public that power companies may conduct Public Safety Power Shutoff during high wind events to prevent wildfires," the city said last week.

Power outages can impact traffic signal operations, with signals initially flashing and potentially going dark after extended outages. Caltrans urges motorists to stay vigilant and be prepared during PSPS.
"When traffic signals are in “blackout mode” with no lights showing drivers must treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Stop and proceed only when it is safe," the city said.
Caltrans urges motorists to exercise extreme caution and patience during outages. Be vigilant of other driver and their movements.
