Woman Left To Die: Hit-And-Run Driver Sought By RivCo Deputies

​Jamie Pruitt, 42, was fatally struck by a white Toyota Corolla shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jurupa Valley, authorities said.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A hit-and-run traffic collision that left a Jurupa Valley pedestrian dead this week has investigators reaching out to the public in the hope of finding the driver involved in the fatal wreck.

Jamie Pruitt was hit shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jurupa Valley's 5000 block of Mission Boulevard. When deputies arrived, they found the 42-year-old woman dead on the road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The driver was apparently aware of what happened and left the woman to die.

"At some point, the suspect exited the vehicle, reentered it, and fled the scene," Sgt. Deirdre Vickers said.

Witnesses reported the driver was in a white 2012 Toyota Corolla. Attached above are images that witnesses shared with the sheriff's department. The photos, which were released to the public via the law enforcement agency, show a sedan with significant damage to the front passenger side hood, fender and windshield.

Vickers did not share a license plate number for the Corolla; the plate is blurred out in the images. She said the vehicle's registration information is not current.

Deputies conducted an extensive search for the suspect and the vehicle but could not locate it, the sheriff's department reported. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Deputy Robert Packer at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling 951-776-1099.
