10 Questions With Karla Davis Of Eagle Community Credit Union

Eagle Community Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative, or credit union. Since 1937 they've held a commitment to excellent service and member satisfaction. For many years they exclusively helped postal employees and then federal employees build their financial futures. Today, they're a community credit union, which means that anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Orange County can become a member at Eagle.

Karla Davis, business development officer at Eagle Community Credit Union, has always had a passion to serve the community and puts to practice Eagle Community's philosophy of helping people achieve their financial goals.


Patch: How long has Eagle Community Credit Union been doing business in town?

Davis: Eagle Community Credit Union has been headquartered in Lake Forest since 1991, and has been serving members in Orange County since we started in 1937 as Orange County Postal Credit Union.


Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Davis: It started when I was an Assistant Branch Manager at Iberia Bank and was asked if I could visit elementary schools in the area to teach kids about checking accounts. I realized then that I wanted to do more of that in the community by way of outreach with a focus in financial services. I am now able to do that in my role with Eagle Community Credit Union every day out in the community.


Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?


Davis: Helping people achieve their financial goals.


Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?


Davis: A challenge I faced was when Eagle experienced a shift in one of its biggest employer partners, making it difficult for me to continue to offer our benefits and financial resources. This challenge gave me the opportunity to devise a plan and to make sure to replace that one employer partner with many others in the community that year.


Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?


Davis: Sharing Eagle’s financial resources in the community and assisting our members in reaching their financial goals.


Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?


Davis: We set ourselves apart by offering the best products and services to our community and members. We also see beyond an application and always strive to get to know our members and their story to stay true to our credit union philosophy of people helping people.


Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?


Davis: Hard work pays off. Stay disciplined and consistent.


Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?


Davis: For Eagle we will be rolling out a new Online and Mobile Banking platform this February that will be very user friendly and offer some great new enhancements like person to person transfers.

Personally I will begin my master’s program with USC. I am ecstatic with the opportunity and hope to utilize the knowledge I’ll acquire in my daily work.


Patch: Do you have any events coming in your community?


Davis: Yes, I will be visiting Costco around south Orange County and Eagle will be hosting the first quarter Lake Forest Chamber Mixer at our new corporate offices in Foothill Ranch on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
