OC Community Rallies To Support Brother After Critical Hit-And-Run

The hit-and-run left the Lake Forest man with serious injuries, family members said.

LAKE FOREST, CA — The Orange County community is rallying to support one man after he was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Lake Forest.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 16, when Eric Lundquist was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. According to family members, Lundquist was on his way to work.

While there were no witnesses to the crash, a good samaritan noticed Lundquist lying on the street and phoned emergency services, an act that family members say likely "saved his life."

"Eric is a handyman and a carpenter, and his work depends entirely on his physical ability," Rachel Lundquist told Patch. "Due to the severity of his injuries, he will be unable to work for the foreseeable future."

Among Lundquist's injuries include a broken acetabulum, which will require extensive recovery, physical therapy and the use of a wheelchair for a minimum of six weeks.

"During this time, he will need help covering medical expenses, everyday living costs, legal fees related to the hit-and-run, and the many unexpected expenses that come with a life-changing injury," the Lundquist family wrote on a GoFundMe campaign created to supplement the hit-and-run costs.
