Blotter: Crowbar Used in Unapproved Way

It's approved for many uses, but separating a skull from a brain is not one of them. That and other calls to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

We're sure the person in quality control knew this could happen but was probably hoping it wouldn't. 

According to an informant, a man was on the ground at Quality Self Storage while another man was hitting a white SUV with a tire iron. According to various accounts,  there were four people fighting in the area near the dead end of Whisler Drive.

There was also a report of possible gunshots in the area.

Deputies arrived and found a man with facial injuries who said the weapon that was used on him was a crowbar.

The incident took place Wednesday, 8:37 p.m., El Toro Frontage Road and Whisler Drive.

The following is a summary report of various calls from Rancho Santa Margarita to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 19.

Assist outside agency, Wednesday, 8:17 p.m., Serrano Road and Ridge Route. In a switch from what is usually reported on the news, an informant reported a man was punching his pit bull in the face. They were gone by the time deputies arrived.

Disturbance—family dispute, Wednesday, 7:14 p.m., on Sierra Blanco. An informant reported her reckless 17-year-old son had just punched her husband.

Traffic accident, Wednesday, 4:49 p.m., Rockfield and White Dove. A motorcycle went down and he rider complained of pain and road rash.

Disturbance, Wednesday, 4:39 p.m., 23300 block of La Vaca. An informant reported her 65-year-old tenant was getting crazy and threatening to fight, although she had retreated to her room.

Disturbance, Wednesday, 4:26 p.m., 23500 block of El Toro Road. A male customer refused to pay for his meal at Minato Sushi and, according to the informant, yelled and got physical with the manager. The customer called police services and said he would explain.

Burglary report, Wednesday, 4:03 p.m., 25600 block of Rimgate. An informant reported a possible burglary at the residence.

Open door, Wednesday, 2:51 p.m., 22800 block of Belquest. A resident doing a vacation check on a home reported an open door. Deputies did a walk-through but found nothing suspicious. 

Citizen assist, Wednesday, 10:51 a.m., 26000 block of Ramjit. A woman said someone changed the settings on her water heater and almost burned her.
