Blotter: Good Night as Samaritan Saves Day for Lady, 84

Also, Chick-fil-A has some unwelcome customers, and other calls to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

A good Samaritan helped save the day for an elderly lady who wandered away from her residence in the early morning hours.

The woman, 84, was walking around in the street on Friday, 1:42 a.m., when a Lake Forest woman took her into her home and called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department after learning the senior didn’t know where she lived. 

A call history on Overlake Drive, where the woman was found, revealed a previously lost female on May 6.

About 85 minutes after the initial call at 1:42 a.m., the woman’s son-in-law arrived to take her to the Royal Inns residential care home near Village Pond Park.

A man reported that six subjects were panhandling in front of Chick-fil-A. 

What made the situation worse was that they were also bathing in the restrooms inside the business.  

The call was made Friday, 5:48 p.m., on the 26700 block of Portola Parkway. 

The following is a summary report of various calls from Rancho Santa Margarita to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 21.

Suspicious person/circumstances, Friday, 10:43 p.m., El Toro and Normandale. An informant thought he heard a loud scream from a young female, possibly coming from the bike trail.

Traffic stop, Friday, 10:32 p.m., Bake and Cooks Bay Drive. Kenneth Lee Miller was taken into custody following a traffic stop. There was a warrant for his arrest for various narcotics offenses. 

Vandalism in progress, Friday, 7:47 p.m., Normandale and El Toro. Seven juveniles were detained after a report they were vandalizing street lights near Vintage Park.

Disturbance, Friday, 7:07 p.m., Peachwood and Trabuco. An informant reported four juveniles on bicycles who purposely let shopping carts go so that they rolled into vehicles; one cart went into the street.

Trespassing, Friday, 6:18 p.m., 19400 block of Rue de Valore. An informant reported a man and his family were using the community pool, but that he was not a resident and did not have a valid key fob. The subject had a number of Aryan Brotherhood tattoos on his arms and the informant didn’t want a confrontation. This was the second time this had occurred.

Suspicious person/circumstances, Friday, 4:07 p.m., 24400 block of Mockingbird Place. An informant who reported her vehicle stolen a day earlier and indicated her daughter in Mexico was the suspect, told police services she had just received a text message from a number she didn’t recognize; the text said her daughter was now dead because the informant reported the vehicle stolen.

Disturbance, Friday, 1:11 p.m., 24000 block of Muirlands. A woman was screaming and yelling at local residents, and appeared to be drinking or on drugs. The woman, who appeared to be in her 50s, had a federal firearm license.

Suspicious person/circumstances, Friday, 10:21 a.m., 22700 block of Lake Forest Drive. A maintenance man discovered marijuana growing in an apartment.

Disturbance, Friday, 4:03 a.m., El Toro and Rockfield. A woman sought the refuge of the Jack In the Box restaurant after a man nearly hit her vehicle and then circled around the restaurant over and over while staring at her.

Disturbance, Thursday, 8:02 p.m., 22700 block of Lake Forest Drive. A woman called 9-1-1 on behalf of her friend after receiving a text that the friend's boyfriend had struck her 4-year-old son and given him a black eye. The friend did not call 9-1-1 because she was scared. Deputies arrested Matthew Wesley Linville, 30, who was cited and released.
