Box Office: 'The Butler' Is Second to None
Movie starring Forrest Whitaker finished ahead of the Millers and Elysium in the weekend box office.
The real-life story of a longtime White House butler debuted in first place at the North American box office, according to final figures released Monday.
"Lee Daniels' The Butler" collected $24.6 million between Friday and Sunday to claim the top spot, followed by the comedy "We're the Millers," which held onto second place with $17.9 million, according to Hollywood.com Box Office.
The Matt Damon sci-fi thriller "Elysium" slipped from first to third place, earning $13.7 million over the weekend. Disney's animated "Planes" earned $13.4 million to fly into fourth place, followed by the debut of "Kick- Ass 2," which earned decidedly mixed reviews and opened with $13.3 million.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in North America were "Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters" ($8.7 million); "Jobs" ($6.7 million); "2 Guns" ($5.8 million); "The Smurfs 2" ($4.8 million); and "The Wolverine" ($4.5 million).
