• Sadly, the victim of a motorcycle crash in Irvine claimed the life of a Lake Forest man, who was identified on Thursday.
• The 35th annual garage sale of a Lake Forest neighborhood figures to attract lots of people and lots of bargains on Saturday and Sunday.
• A 22-year-old man has been arrested for the shooting in Silverado Canyon on Wednesday that put that area on lockdown.
For those keeping an eye on parks in Lake Forest, Jim Gardner's blog offers his take on where the city stands.
• Rick Warren begins preaching Saturday, 4:30 p.m., marking the first time the Saddleback Church pastor has taught since the death of his son in April. Warren will speak both Saturday and Sunday on the topic, "How to Get Through What You're Going Through."
• Family movie night at the Etnies Skatepark is tonight, 7 p.m., with the showing of Most Vertical Primate 2, about a skateboarding chimpanzee. Wikipedia feels the need to specify the main character, Jack, is a fictional chimpanzee. There's a special guest as well. Cost is free, but they're taking donations for the skatepark.

• A lot of local kids are a part of the Creative Kids Playhouse Children's Theater of O.C. Kids 11 to 14 years old will present a "hilarious" take on Robin Hood tonight, 7 p.m., and Saturday, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Laguna Hills High School Theater. Click the link for additional information.
• Before Rancho Mission Viejo becomes a Patch town, check out Orange County's newest Patch site, Propwash Junction. It is, quite frankly, cool. It's a great place to spend time with your kids in advance of the movie Planes, which flies into theaters Aug. 9.
• Did you love Legos? Do you still? Check out the photos from a local camp of young engineers making a go of the building blocks.
• The Orange County Fair continues through Sunday, with musical headliners Weezer tonight at the Pacific Amphitheater, Save Ferris on Saturday, and The Dirty Heads on Sunday.
