City To Talk 'Safe Lake Forest', License Plate Reading Program Tuesday
Lake Forest City council members will discuss an arrangement that could up the amount of license plate reader cameras in neighborhoods.
LAKE FOREST, CA — Lake Forest City council members will discuss a potential arrangement between HOA programs and the city to increase the amount of license plate reading cameras in Lake Forest's neighborhoods.
The matter will be discussed during Tuesday's city council meeting, according to a city staff report.
The potential arrangement would establish a program where Lake Forest HOAs would buy license plate reader cameras to be installed on HOA property as well as city-owned property and infrastructure.

The initiative, dubbed "Safe Lake Forest" by the city, is intended to increase public safety by starting a community partnership to geofence neighborhoods.
The license plate reader cameras would be purchased from Flock Safety, a public safety operating system is intended to help neighborhoods, businesses, and law enforcement across the country.

The city currently uses Flock cameras to investigate crimes that involve vehicles, a city statement said. Currently, the City has 23 Flock cameras installed to surveil major intersections and thoroughfares throughout Lake Forest.
The initiative will be discussed at Tuesday's Lake Forest City Council meeting. Council members meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 100 Civic Center Drive.
