Clean California Dump Day Kicks Off In Lake Forest This Weekend

Volunteers are being sought to participate in Orange County's first bulky-item pickup and neighborhood clean-up day.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Clean Lake Forest will hold a community clean-up event Saturday as part of Clean California Dump Day to help beautify the city's neighborhoods and roadsides.

The clean-up event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature volunteers scouring neighborhoods and parks around southwest Lake Forest for litter to pick up, city officials said. Residents can also drop off bulky items at 24551 Raymond Way during the event.

Clean California Dump Day is part of an initiative from Gov. Gavin Newsom to help "remove trash and engage communities to restore roadsides and pride in public spaces," Lake Forest officials said.

Volunteers will meet at the Mountain View Affordable Housing Community at 8 a.m. before heading out for the clean-up.

The bulky item drop-off will accept mattresses, chairs, couches, tables, desk toys and green waste. Hazardous and electronic waste are not accepted, according to Lake Forest officials.

City officials said the clean-up event is scheduled for the last Saturday of the month because that's when people usually move from their homes.

"[City workers] find more items such as furniture and mattresses abandoned in the public right-of-way," city officials said.
