Head's Up, Aug. 29: Solar Flare-up, Big Consignment Sale

Taking a look at what's going down and coming up for residents in the Lake Forest area.

• Super blogger Jim Gardner has started his third blog, called "Save Lake Forest." He will keep residents current on the effort to turn back a residential development in the Foothill Auto Centre. It's another mens of keeping track of where you can sign the circulating referendum or how you can otherwise help.

• Do you get into trouble using credit? Smart Spending takes a look at how you can reap the benefit of certain credit cards. 

• We especially like today's Photo of the Day. Photographer Patrick McDonagh was really using his head, but we suppose that's par for the course. 

• Do you know someone who's looking for new digs? Check out the homes for sale in Lake Forest from our partners at Zillow.com.

• Today begins a consignment sale at the Lake Forest Sun and Sail Club to benefit SoCal 4 Kids. The sale continues through Sunday, Sept. 1. Click here for important details.

• If you believe in solar power, you may want to check out the blog titled "Oppose AB 327" by Atousa Zolfaghari or the announcement "Solar Advocates Descend on Sempra at Today's Protest." 
 
• Today is the last day of the City's eight-week Rec 'N Roll program. The fun stops at Alton Park from 10 a.m. to 12:30, and Foothill Ranch Community Park from 1:30 p.m. to 4. Head's up: It's Water Week. More details are here.

•  If you don't want to wait until the last minute, be advised that Friday is a campout at Etnies Skatepark celebrating the end of summer. Lots of fun activities, including midnight madness, are promised. Cost is $30 per person. Click here for details.
