ICE Reported In South OC, City Councilmember Urges Undocumented People To Stay Home
The Irvine Councilmember encouraged undocumented people to stay home Thursday in an Instagram post as immigration raids continue in OC.
IRVINE, CA — An Irvine City Councilmember encouraged undocumented people to stay home via social media, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would be in the city throughout Thursday.
"We have been informed that immigration agents will be in eight to 10 locations in Irvine today," Councilmember Kathleen Treseder said in the post. "Orchard Hills being one of them. If you are concerned about your status, please stay home."
Treseder told The Orange County Register that the information was passed on by Irvine City Manager Oliver Chi, who was alerted by immigration officials.

Irvine Police Department spokesperson Kyle Oldoerp told the newspaper that while the department was notified of ICE's presence in town, specific locations were not given. Oldoerp also said that he "does not believe" the actions will result in random arrests.
According to the Orange County Rapid Response Network, a coalition that serves to notify residents of immigration raids in the area, ICE agents were in Pearson Park and surrounding areas in Anaheim this morning.

At least one person was arrested, the organization said.
