Irvine Named CA's Biggest Boomtown
Since 2014, Irvine's population has increased by 24.5 percent, and it is now home to 304,527 residents, according to GOBankingRates.
IRVINE, CA — Irvine is California’s biggest boomtown, according to GOBankingRates.
The personal finance website, which defines boomtowns as “fast-growing cities, due to rapid business and population growth,” analyzed American Community Survey data to determine the top boomtown in every state. GOBankingRates looked at changes in population, housing and income in cities with over 25,000 but under 500,000 people.
Since 2014, Irvine’s population has increased by nearly 75,000 people, or 24.5 percent, and it is now home to 304,527 residents, according to the website. Per capita income is up 26.8 percent at $59,354, according to GOBankingRates, and occupied housing units have increased 24.6 percent or by 27,144 units. Owner-occupied housing units are up 15.3 percent or 7,427, according to the website.
