Mission Viejo Man Killed In Lake Forest Car Crash Identified

The driver was killed when his car went out of control and slammed into a concrete wall.

A 22-year-old Mission Viejo man was identified today as the driver killed when his car went out of control, drifted off the San Diego (5) Freeway in Lake Forest, and slammed into a concrete wall.

Nicholas Thomas was killed in the crash, according to the coroner’s office. It happened on the southbound San Diego Freeway north of El Toro Road at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, said California Highway Patrol Officer K. Bird.

Thomas was in the far left lane and “for an unknown reason veered to the right, left the roadway and went onto El Toro Road, where it (the car) collided with a concrete wall at the edge of El Toro Road,” Bird said.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene, he said

The coroner’s office lists Thomas as “the driver of an out of control auto.”
