Paul McCartney Doesn't Live in Lake Forest

The Orange County Sheriff gets a call that might inspire a song. Or not.

By Martin Henderson

Paul McCartney sings that when someone is knocking at the door, let 'em in.

McCartney doesn't live in Lake Forest.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a local resident has issues with a man who lives upstairs who loves to knock on the door.

Apparently, he is a habitual knocker, and the man downstairs called police services to report that he had incurred the wrath of the knock-happy neighbor.

It's an ongoing problem according to the informant, and reached a zenith on Thursday. The man upstairs allegedly pounded on the door over and over, accusing the informant of doing drugs—which he insisted is not true on his phone call to the police to report the incident.

Deputies arrived at the residence and heard the story from the informant first hand. Naturally, they ventured upstairs to confront the other man—about 35 minutes after the initial phone call.

They knocked on the door. Presumably, they rang the bell.

Did the guy do them a favor?

Nobody opened the door.

Nobody let 'em in.

There wasn't even so much as an answer.

The call came Thursday, 8:24 p.m., on the 23200 block of Orange Ave.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
