Pic of the Day: Cirque du Fit

Today's acrobatic photo comes with a message worth hearing if you're a Lake Forest resident.

By Martin Henderson

Have you seen a sight like this? Most self-photos are taken at arm's length, but Erica Roselius had to do a fair bit of maneuvering to capture this part of her workout on a piece of equipment called a TRX.

Here's the backstory of the photo from the subject herself:

The TRX is a piece of fitness equipment that suspends from a hook and uses your own body weight to provide resistance. It was originally developed by an ex-Navy Seal with the idea that soldiers and civilians alike can hang it anywhere indoors or outdoors to perform a workout. It has handles for both your hands and your feet (which is what I am using in the photo), giving you the ability to perform most exercises you normally do with weights or cables. And because it is suspended and can move it provides an amazing core workout.  My clients love it because its unique, fun and challenging. And the ladies don't feel like it makes them "bulk up," which worries so many of them.

I wanted to send the photo to you because The Sun and Sail Club offers so many amazing classes and services that people don't know about. From entertainment, to photography, cooking, and fitness classes like mine, the Rec Manager there has done a great job creating a space that can be the center of the community. And most classes, including mine, are open to and rely on the general public. They aren't restricted to Club members.

So there you have it, today's photo of the day, "Cirque du Fit," is also a public service announcement.

Have you got a great photo because it's poignant, funny, creative, stirring, action-packed, interesting, artistic or different?

Don't be shy. You've got your camera phone, you've got an itchy trigger finger, snap off a moment in time and share it on Patch. And, if you don't want to go through a third party, upload it directly through a Blog or the Board in the same way that this one is.
