Roaches Close Lake Forest Afghan Restaurant

Learn who the health department closed earlier this month in Mission Viejo.

An Afghan restaurant on El Toro Road was closed for five days by the county health department earlier this month.

Nimroz Restaurant at 21991 El Toro closed March 6 after health inspectors took photos of both live and dead cockroaches in different life cycles in "critical areas of the kitchen," according to a report.

In addition to the roaches, inspectors found two other major health code violations. These were:

  • leaving raw meats stored over uncovered produce
  • leaving sliced tomatoes at room temperature for less than two hours, according to the cook

Nine minor violations were also listed in the report.

The restaurant was allowed to reopen March 11. The report detailing the reopening was unavailable from the county website.
