Glam (and Fab) Bands, Award Winners, Crime Fighters

Taking a look at what's going down and coming up for residents in the Lake Forest area.

• One of the original heavy metal Christian bands, Stryper, will show its colors at the Coach House tonight, 8 p.m., in San Juan Capistrano. Tickets are $20. The sound will be different, though, for the '80s glam band: It's going to be an acoustic show. A new album is scheduled for release in the fall, No More Hell To Pay. Special guest is Mike Tramp of White Lion.

• It’s Beatles Day at the Sawdust Art and Craft Festival on Laguna Canyon Road. Beginning at 10 a.m., guests can enjoy 1960s-themed art activities and classes, as Beatles cover bands.

• Comedian Bobby Slayton performs at 8 p.m. at the Improv at the Irvine Spectrum, 71 Fortune Drive. 

• The Parks and Recreation Commission meets tonight, 7 p.m., at City Hall, where the dog park feasibility study and a healthy cities overview will be among the discussion items. 

• Take a tour of the Orange County Crime Lab, via the camera lens of Patch reporter Adam Townsend. 

• Kids ages 6 to 14 who aspire to act (and sing) can try out today for "Through the Woods," a two-act musical presented by the Creative Kids Playhouse Children's Theater of Orange County. Auditions are at 1 p.m. at Los Alisos Middle School. 

• Like the girl groups? Cougrzz are playing at Our Place in Lake Forest tonight, 8 p.m. Hear their tribute to the bands fronted by the women of rock.
