2 People Arrested After Lafayette Robbery: Police
Breaking: The two led police on a 100 mile per hour chase and a foot race that involved hurdling over four fences.

LAFAYETTE, CA — Two people are under arrest Saturday morning after breaking into a house and leading police on a wild chase Friday, according to Lafayette Police.
Just before 9 a.m. Friday, a Lafayette officer spotted an older model vehicle with no front license plate and a paper dealer plate on the rear. The officer initiated a stop, but the vehicle sped away, heading onto westbound Highway 24 at speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The car lost control and struck the center median. No other cars were involved.
Then the suspects, a man and a woman, jumped out of the car and climbed a fence surrounding the Orinda BART station, scaled a second fence, crossed the tracks, climbed a third fence, ran across the highway, scaled a fourth fence, and started running down Brookwood Road. That's where they were finally taken down. Cops searched the car and found "a large quantity of electronics, jewelry, and several jewelry boxes."

Prior to this wild chase, a Lafayette resident saw a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a neighbor's house on Las Huertas Road. The resident knew the neighbors were away. The resident and the suspicious car both left the neighborhood at the same time, and the resident saw the suspicious car get pulled over. Turns out, it was the same one involved in the chase.
Also at that time, a landscaper called police after he saw a shattered rear glass door on the same property. When police checked the inside of the home, an officer who was involved in the chase recognized a match between the property in the pursued car and the home. The homeowners verified all of this, and both suspects were booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for burglary, evading, and a variety of other charges.
