70-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies In I-680 Walnut Creek Crash
A 70-year-old man died after he was ejected from his motorcycle during a crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek Tuesday afternoon.

WALNUT CREEK - A 70-year-old man died after he was ejected from his motorcycle during a crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was initially reported along Highway 680 south of the North Main Street off-ramp at 12:41 p.m., according to the CHP.

A sedan was making a turning movement on the highway's northbound lanes when it struck the center divide and was swung around into oncoming traffic, according to the CHP.
A motorcyclist was unable to avoid the sedan and collided with it, according to the CHP.

The motorcyclist, identified as a Martinez man, was subsequently thrown onto the highway's southbound lanes.
A third vehicle also collided with the sedan as it swerved across the highway, according to the CHP.
Medical personnel provided aid to the motorcyclist, who was taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries but was later pronounced dead, according to the CHP.
A man in a vehicle on the highway's southbound side was also extricated at the scene and taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, fire officials said.
Debris from the crash blocked lanes on both sides of the highway, according to the CHP.
All of the lanes were cleared and reopened around 3 p.m.
CHP officials said it is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision but no arrests have been made.
