No BART Service This Weekend Between Lafayette, Rockridge; Here's Why
As crews work on several trackway improvements, BART trains will not run this weekend between the Rockridge, Orinda and Lafayette stations.

LAMORINDA, CA — Free buses will replace BART Yellow Line trains this weekend between the Rockridge, Orinda and Lafayette stations.
Crews will work around the clock Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, on several improvements to trackways between the Rockridge and Lafayette stations. To create a safe environment for the workers, there will be no service Saturday or Sunday between the two stations.
Each night of the weekend shutdowns, the last scheduled departure — normally 11:45 p.m. — from Antioch to Lafayette is canceled; riders must catch the earlier train at 11:34 p.m. to travel westbound from Antioch.

County Connection and AC Transit buses will offer free service between the stations during the shutdown; riders who use a bus bridge should plan for a trip delay of up to 20 minutes, BART said.
Crews To Replace 'Decades-Old' Equipment
The work team will make the most of its time in the closed trackway, BART said. Crews will replace aging rail; install new equipment to support the traction power system; enhance lighting in the Berkeley Hills Tunnel; and advance other key improvements.

The equipment being replaced is decades old and has outlived its design life, BART said. Riders will enjoy a smoother, safer, more reliable and quieter ride once the projects are complete.
The work is part of BART’s overall effort to improve the safety and reliability of the 131-mile, 50-station system — with more rebuilding projects happening now across BART than at any point in its 50-year history.
Service Delays May 4-5 Near Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre
BART is slated to deploy a work team Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, near the Pleasant Hill/ Contra Costa Centre station in Walnut Creek to replace aging rail and manage potentially hazardous vegetation.
Both days, BART will reduce service from two tracks to one to ensure a safe work zone. Yellow Line riders should expect delays of up to 10-15 minutes in the work area.
