LAMORINDA, CA — All lanes of westbound state Highway 24 were reopened shortly before noon Wednesday following an investigation into a possible shooting.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol's Contra Costa division temporarily closed the lanes because of the potential shooting, the agency said on social media shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The police activity stopped traffic just west of Camino Pablo. Officials initially said there was no estimated time for reopening the freeway and encouraged drivers to use alternate routes.
