Final Gold Coast Concert: SOUVENIR

Voted Best Concert Series of the East Bay

The Gold Coast Chamber Players will conclude 35 years in the chamber music community with a blockbuster program, "Souvenir," on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 7:30 PM in the Don Tatzin Community Hall at the Lafayette Library, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette, CA, with a pre-concert talk at 7 PM.

The concert will be recorded and ticket holders have access to this Digital Concert Hall for three months. Come hear why GCCP was voted Best East Bay Concert Series for the second year in a row!

The GCCP Grand Finale is filled with chamber music favorites. The program begins with Beethoven’s virtuosic “Duet with Two Obligato Eyeglasses” for viola and cello. Showcasing a lighter side of Beethoven, this duo is filled with charm and humor. Kummer’s delightful Duo #1, op. 22 for two cellos follows. Mozart’s String Quintet, k. 516 in g minor concludes the program first half. This quintet is both dramatic and playful, and is arguably Mozart’s most popular quintet. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, an epic and passionate journey, filled with folk melodies. While the title Souvenir de Florence pays homage to Italy, this string sextet is all Russian in character and provides a blockbuster ending to the GCCP concert series.
