A Family Affair

Traditionally held the third Sunday in October, the Lafayette Res Run for Education is the city's most popular family affair, involving kids, parents, grandparents and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. Sprinters, walkers, stroller brigades and many of Lafayette's top four-legged residents also usually join the fun.

Registration is open until race day but T-shirts are limited.

Money For Schools

For 30 years, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce has been organizing the Lafayette Res Run For Education to raise money for local schools and for the Chamber's programs and services. Last year alone, more than $28,000 was shared with local schools, with the money going directly to each school's PTA.

Schools compete to register the most participants. In 2022, Burton Valley Elementary won, and the Bobcats seemed to be ahead of the pack again this year.

Parking

Parking meters are in effect in Lafayette on race day. The only free parking is at the BART lots, 3601 Deer Hill Road. See the map below for public parking in Lafayette, including EV charging stations.
