MOFD’s Home-Hardening Grants Program Offers Free Gutter Covers

LAMORINDA, CA — Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District’s Home-Hardening Grants Program is now Offering Free Gutter Covering for District Homeowners, district officials announced on social media last week.

"MOFD has received a shipment of 'Gutterglove- Leafblaster Pro' gutter covering just in time for the most dangerous part of our wildland fire season," the department's post on Facebook said. "These stainless steel guards are designed to minimize the accumulation of combustible material in your home’s gutters and limit the surface spread of flame for at least 30 minutes."

Having gutter coverings can help protect a home from damage due to flying embers in the event of a wildfire, the district said.

District residents will need to fill out a request to receive the materials at no charge, the department said.
