Nightly Caldecott Tunnel Closures Begin For Eastbound No. 2 Bore

The consecutive overnight closures were set to start Monday night in eastbound state Highway 24.

CONTRA COSTA AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES, CA — Caltrans has scheduled overnight closures of the eastbound Highway 24 Caldecott Tunnel No. 2 bore for three consecutive nights this week.

The closures are scheduled from Monday, June 10, Tuesday, June 11, and Wednesday, June 12, starting at 10 p.m. each night and continuing until 4:30 a.m. the next morning.

The closure of the No. 2 bore allows crews to conduct routine maintenance inside the Caldecott Tunnel, Caltrans said.

The two westbound bores and the other eastbound bore will stay open during the nightly work.

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area.
