Orinda Police To Host National Night Out
Bring a backpack or school supplies to donate and get the chance to dunk the chief of police.

ORINDA, CA — The Orinda Police Department invites residents to National Night Out on Tuesday.
The event—among thousands taking place across the nation—will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Orinda Police Department, 22 Orinda Way.
Join OPD for community building over barbecued hotdogs and hamburgers. The event promotes safer communities through knowing your neighbors and local police officers.

Bring a backpack or school supplies to donate and get the chance to dunk the chief of police in the dunk tank. The school supplies will be donated to the Family Justice Center in Concord.
Since 1984, National Night Out has been held annually on the first Tuesday of August. To date, some 17,000 communities across the United States have signed on for the event. In California, Orinda is one of 365 participating cities.

"The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings," said Kay Bailey Hutchison, a former U.S. senator. "National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities."
