Photos: Lafayette Selects New Mayor, Vice Mayor

Councilmembers selected Gina Dawson for the mayoral seat and Wei-Tai Kwok for the role of vice mayor.

LAFAYETTE, CA — The Lafayette City Council selected its mayor and vice mayor for 2024 during its Dec. 11 meeting.

The Council selected Gina Dawson to serve as mayor and Wei-Tai Kwok to serve as vice mayor.

Dawson served as vice mayor this year and was first elected to the City Council in 2020. This is her first time serving as mayor.

Wei-Tai Kwok has served on the City Council since August of 2021. This is his first time serving as vice mayor.

The mayoral rotation in Lafayette is decided by a vote of the City Council during the first regular meeting in December; the selection is made from among the current Councilmembers and the term to serve as mayor is for one year.
