Smoke Advisory: Prescribed Burn Underway In Lamorinda

LAMORINDA, CA — Residents in the vicinity of Scenic Drive and Estates Drive in Orinda may see or smell smoke Thursday from a prescribed burn.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., firefighters were scheduled to burn piled material between Estates Drive and Oakwood Road, the Moraga-Orinda Fire District said.

"The project is intended to reduce the wildfire fuel below homes in the area," the fire district said. "Residents are advised to close exterior doors and windows to keep smoke from entering their homes."

MOFD is coordinating the project with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to ensure the burn is conducted safely and with minimal smoke impacts to the community, the fire district said.
