Is It The Weekend Yet? Recovering From Thursday's Commute Hangover

A series of accidents on Southbound 101 send four people to the hospital, tie up traffic for hours.

Still recovering from Thursday's traffic headache? Well, take the rest of the day off and just relax if you're one of the many drivers who was mired in the morning commute.

The mess reportedly started when a truck lost a load of shingles on Southbound Highway 101 just past the Corte Madera Creek Bridge. The stopped traffic resulted in a trifecta of accidents, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Joaquin Creasy, 31, was driving at approximately 40 mph in a 2000 Chevrolet 3500 when he came upon the stopped traffic at about 8:10 a.m. He hit his brakes but couldn't avoid rear-ending the 1997 Honda CR-V of Angel Vasquez-Deleon. The Honda was then forced forward into Jessica Gorton's sedan. Both Vasquez-Deleon and her passenger were assessed for complaints of pain and transported to Marin General Hospital for precautionary measures.

In the aftermath, just five minutes later, there was a second collision when Golriz Shahabi's Mercedes rear-ended Wayne Hamilton's Dodge Caravan. Marin County Paramedics arrived on scene and assessed Shahabi, who was transported to Marin General Hospital for precautionary measures due to her pregnancy and the deployment of the air bags in the Mercedes.

David Barrows, 47, of Novato, was also taken to Marin General Hospital after he lost control of his Kawasaki at approximately 60 mph and crashed into a 2005 Subaru Outback. Burrows was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained fractures to his lower left leg.

Drivers quickly began turning to surface streets to get around the backup on Highway 101. Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, the main escape route, was soon backed up from Eliseo Drive to Bon Air. There was another three-car accident just past the Bon Air Bridge. No injuries were reported.
