MarinHealth Chief Medical Officer Receives Influential Women Award

Dr. Karin Shavelson one of the 20 women selected for this year's North Bay Influential Women Awards

On June 7th, the North Bay Business Journal announced MarinHealth’s Chief Medical Officer, Karin Shavelson M.D. has been selected as a notable recipient of this year’s North Bay Influential Women Awards. Dr. Shavelson, along with 19 female entrepreneurs and executives who work in the Northern Bay Area, were honored at the Influential Women Awards event on June 14th.

This year’s award nominations include those submitted by North Bay Business Journal readers, previous honorees, and the publication’s editorial department.

According to the publication’s editors, “The achievements and contributions of the nominees made the selection process difficult. Undoubtedly, many of this year's nominees will be named winners in the future. Winners were chosen based on many factors, including leadership roles in the organization, business-related innovations, vision and community involvement.”

With a desire to care for young people, Dr. Shavelson began her medical career at UCSF as a Pediatric Resident and Chief Resident. She then worked as a clinician and physician leader at Kaiser Permanente and Santa Rosa Community Health Center as a pediatrician before ultimately joining MarinHealth in 2019 as a Clinical Pediatric Hospitalist and Chief Medical Officer.
