Police Report: Spate Of Vehicle Burglaries on Via La Cumbre
Twin Cities Crime Blotter for Aug. 31-Sept. 6: Three cars on one street are broken into during one night.

A resident of the 70 block of Via La Cumbre reported that her unlocked vehicle had been entered during the night. A bag of clothing valued at approximately $200 was taken. The theft was documented.
A resident of the 40 block of Via La Cumbre reported that his unlocked vehicle had been gone through during the night, but it appeared that nothing was taken. The incident was documented.
A resident of the 100 block of Via La Cumbre reported that his locked car was entered during the night via the right rear window being smashed out. An LG Verizon cell phone and a pair of white and brown Foot Joy golf shoes in a black case were taken for a loss of approximately $250. An Auto Burglary report was taken.
A resident of the 1000 block of South Eliseo Drive reported that she had received a call from someone in Florida telling her she had won a million dollars. The person told her to send them $750 via Western Union, which she did not do and therefore did not suffer any loss. She wanted TWin Cities Police to be aware of the attempted scam.
A resident in the 100 block of Corte Ramon reported that two outgoing letters with checks were stolen from her mailbox. Today, she received a call from a representative of a Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco stating someone was attempting to cash one of the checks at there. The subject fled the bank and they advised her to make a police report before they would provide further information.
A resident of the 40 block of Birch Avenue reported that two bicycles, a Santa Cruz mountain bike valued at approximately $1000, and an unknown bike, were taken from her garage. A Residential Burglary report was taken for documentation.
A Larkspur resident reported that her cell phone was taken from her friend’s unlocked car while it was parked in the lot at the Redwood High School. A Theft report was taken for documentation.
A resident of the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue reported that someone scratched a letter ‘F’ into the driver side door of her vehicle and hit her windshield with something, cracking it, while it was parked in the area of her residence. Documentation for the vandalism was provided.
A resident of the 200 block of Via La Cumbre reported that someone had separated the glass on the rear window of his vehicle while it was parked in the area of his residence and taken a briefcase and tools. Total loss is approximately $1,500. An Auto Burglary report was taken.
A resident of the 100 block of Lucky Drive reported that the front passenger window of her car was broken while it was parked near her residence and her iPad was stolen. Approximate loss is $425. A report was taken for an Auto Burglary.
TCPD Detectives served a Search Warrant at a residence in Novato regarding a computer which was stolen from a vehicle parked in the area of the Bay Club Marin, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, in March of this year. The computer was located during the search, along with other items of stolen property. Additional investigation is in progress.
A resident of the 200 building of Old Quarry Road North reported that while it was parked near her residence, her vehicle's window was smashed sometime during night. Taken was a roller suitcase containing cosmetics, valued at approximately $200. An Auto Burglary report was taken.
A second resident of the 200 building of Old Quarry Road North reported her locked vehicle had also been entered during the night via unknown means while it was parked in the area of her residence. Taken were a Garmin Navigator, an iPod docking station, and $10 in change. An Auto Burglary report was taken.
A resident of the 100 block of Mariner Green Drive reported that someone had removed her potted plants from her fence line and rolled the plants down the hillside. The vandalism was not witnessed. Documentation of the vandalism was provided.
A resident of the 100 block of Via La Cumbre reported that her unlocked vehicle was entered while it was parked at the residence and vehicle documentation papers were taken. Documentation of the theft was provided.
A resident of the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue reported that sometime yesterday her blue Specialized bicycle, valued at $1,200, was taken from her patio. A Grand Theft report was taken.
After a TCPD Officer contacted a subject in the area of Casa Buena Drive and Conow Street, a San Francisco man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and released on a citation.
A caller in the 2800 block of Larkspur Landing Circle reported via 911 that a woman got out of a vehicle and was screaming at the driver while running away. TCPD Units contacted a Novato woman in the area who was arrested for anoutstanding warrant held by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. She was booked into the Marin County Jail.
While on patrol, a TCPD Officer was flagged down by a person reporting they had found a wallet on the bike path on the South Eliseo Bike Path. The owner, a resident of the 30 block of Drake’s View Circle, was contacted. She stated on the previous Wednesday, she saw a male subject reaching into her vehicle which was in her open garage. Her red, satchel-type purse was taken from the vehicle, but she did not report it to TCPD at that time. An Auto Burglary report was taken for documentation.
A resident of the 70 block of Dartmouth Drive reported that approximately two weeks ago, his yellow 21 speed Cannondale mountain bike, valued at approximately $500, was taken from in front of his residence. The theft was not witnessed. Documentation for the theft was provided.
After being contacted in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue pursuant to a traffic stop, a TCPD Officer arrested a Sausalito juvenile male and a Tiburon juvenile male for being Juveniles in Possession of Tobacco Products. They were released on citations after their parents were contacted.
A business in the Village Shopping Center reported that yesterday, a female subject stole a pair of sunglasses valued at $160. The theft was captured on video. Documentation of the theft was provided.
Pursuant to being contacted on a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Redwood Highway, a Novato man was arrested for Violation of Probation and Driving with a Suspended and Revoked driver's license. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.
A resident in the 20 block of Sunnyside Avenue reported that she received a call from a man claiming to be her grandson, saying he had done something very stupid and had to go to New York this afternoon. When she asked the caller his name, he hung up. Her grandson is only 9 years old and she did not give any information or money to the caller.She was reporting the incident to TCPD to document the attempted scam.
A resident of the 100 block of Lucky Drive reported that her vehicle was entered two nights ago, but that she did not report the incident to TCPD. Taken were miscellaneous items, including a metal box with old reel to reel tapes. She reported that the Marin County Sheriff’s Office showed up this morning with the owner's manual from her vehicle and the reel to reel tapes. An Auto Burglary report was taken and there is follow-up pending with the MCSO.
A resident of the 300 block of Via La Cumbre reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered, ransacked, and the overhead light was broken. A Sony tape recorder/player, valued at $50, was taken. Documentation for the theft was provided.
A report was taken for an Assault and Battery between two co-workers which occurred at a business in the Bon Air Shopping Center. There is further investigation and action pending.
Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Redwood Highway, a TCPD Officer arrested a Novato man for Violation of Probation. He was released on a citation. A Novato woman was issued a Citation for Open Container in a vehicle. The driver, a Novato man, was arrested for being an Unlicensed Driver and released on a citation.
Pursuant to TCPD Officers conducting a probation search in the 100 block of Golden Hind Passage, two Corte Madera men were both arrested for Violation of Probation. Both were booked into the Marin County Jail.
Officers responded to the area of Parkview Circle and Meadowcreek Drive for a report of a vehicle with the front windshield bashed in. The vehicle was located and contact made with the registered owner. He advised he had some friends over for a small get together the previous evening. It appeared word got out of a party and he had to turn away uninvited guests. He believed someone may have smashed the windshield due to being rejected from the party. Thevandalism was unwitnessed. Documentation of the vandalism was provided.
A resident of the 300 building of Old Quarry Road North reported that his bike, a Santa Cruz Heckler 14 speed mountain bike, valued at $2000, was taken from the bed of his truck. The theft was not witnessed. Documentation of the theft was provided.
A Larkspur resident reported that while he was at the laundromat in the 400 block of Magnolia Ave., someone took his iPad. The theft was unwitnessed. Documentation of the theft was provided.
A San Anselmo resident reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the 900 block of Larkspur Landing Circle. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.
During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 306 calls for service. This included two hit and run accidents and four property damage only accidents. There were seven auto burglaries and one residential burglary. There were no calls related to Driving while Intoxicated.
