TCPD Log August 3-9: Valuable Paintings Stolen From Carport

Major thefts reported in Twin Cities

A resident in the 200 block of Via Casitas reported the theft of two large abstract paintings and a mirror from the carport area of their building. Total loss is estimated at $3,400. 

A St. Helena resident reported that while it was parked in the area of the Cheesecake Factory restaurant in the Village Shopping Center, his vehicle was broken into. Taken was a travel bag containing a camera, cell phone, computer, credit cards and other miscellaneous items for an estimated loss of $10,000.

A business in the Village Shopping Center reported the theft of 15 pairs of sunglasses for a total loss of approximately $4,200 by a male and female subject who came into the store. While the female subject distracted the clerk, the male subject is seen on video placing the sunglasses into a bag. A Grand Theft report was taken.

A business in the Corte Madera Town Center reported the theft of “several” pairs of eyeglass frames. The theft was unwitnessed. Total loss was estimated at $1,350. A Grand Theft report was taken.

Officers responded to an altercation between several persons in the 800 block of Meadowsweet Drive. On arrival, they located two roommates, a man and a woman, who advised the dispute was verbal only. A Corte Madera man was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and was booked into the Marin County Jail.

A resident in the 30 block of Via Cheparro reported that when she returned home, she discovered a rear window of her residence had the screen removed and the window was open. On checking the residence she saw that items had been moved around in the bedroom and determined that approximately $16,000 in property had been stolen.

United Liquors, located in the 1100 block of Magnolia Avenue, reported they had a subject detained that had attempted to steal a bottle of liquor. A Larkspur juvenile male was reprimanded and released to a parent.

A Santa Rosa resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal parking lot, it was broken into and two bags of tools and a cell phone charger were stolen from the trunk. The loss is approximately $600.

A San Rafael resident reported that while her vehicle was parked and locked in the parking lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, it was broken into and her in-dash stereo and a box of speakers were taken. The alarm had been disabled and there were no signs of forced entry. Total loss was estimated at $450.

A resident of the 20 block of Crescent Road reported that his unlocked vehicle had been entered while it was parked in the area of his residence. Taken were an MP3 player and his wallet for a total loss of approximately $200. 

Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 200 block of Tamalpais Drive, a Tiburon man was arrested for being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Possession of a Fictitious Government Identification and released on a citation.

Officers responded to the area of the 10 block of Crystal Creek for a report of possible juvenile subjects behind the residences smoking what appeared to be marijuana. Two subjects were located. A Larkspur juvenile male was arrested for Violation of Probation and released to an adult and a Novato juvenile male was arrested on an outstanding warrant and booked at the Marin County Juvenile Hall.

Pursuant to an officer contacting him in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Ward Street, a Petaluma man was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

A resident of the 150 block of Granada Drive reported that his unlocked vehicle had been entered while it had been parked in the area of his residence. Taken were a GPS unit, sunglasses, a National Parks pass, an iPod cable, miscellaneous change that was in the ashtray and the vehicle’s registration and insurance information. The loss was approximately $400.

A resident of the 100 building of Lincoln Village Circle called to report that he had just interrupted a subject trying to break into his residence via a partially open rear bathroom window and that the subject was now walking towards the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center. Responding officers checked the area for the subject with negative results. 

A resident of the 700 building of Lincoln Village Circle reported that she had been bitten on the arm by a dog. The dog was being walked by a “dog walker” and the owner also lived in Lincoln Village. All parties were contacted and a report was taken and forwarded to the Marin Humane Society for further action.

A resident of the 130 block of Mariner Green Drive reported the theft of the rear license plate from her vehicle. A report was taken and the information was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

A San Francisco resident reported that while her vehicle was parked at the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center, a rear window was smashed and her vehicle was entered. Taken was a purse which contained personal items and credit cards. The loss was estimated at $1,457. Some of the credit cards had already been used at businesses in neighboring cities. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

A resident of the 300 building at Lincoln Village Circle reported that he was bitten on the back of his leg by a neighbor’s dog. All parties were contacted and a report was taken and forwarded to the Marin Humane Society for any possible further follow-up.

A resident of the 10 block of Wildflower Court reported that both of her two sons' bicycles, a silver 21 speed Giant mountain bike valued at $200 and a black Specialized Boulder mountain bike valued at $500, were stolen from their driveway.

A resident in the 10 block of Baja Court reported that he had received a call from Chase Bank advising him that someone had obtained a credit card in his name. An Identity Theft report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

During this one week time period, the Twin Cities Police Department had 269 calls for service. This included one call related to an accident with minor injuries, one hit and run accident and six property damage only accidents. There were four auto burglariesand three residential burglaries. There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated, however, this did not result in any arrests.
