Police allege four teen girls stole thousands in merchandise from a North Bay shopping center before ordering an Uber to make their escape.
CORTE MADERA, CA — Four teen girls landed in juvenile hall after Marin County authorities allege they filled shopping bags with pricy cosmetics and enlisted an unwitting Uber driver as their getaway ride.
According to the Central Marin Police Authority, a store employee called 911 from the Town Center Corte Madera around 6:30 p.m. last Friday. The worker told dispatchers they saw four suspects clearing shelves of merchandise and filling large bags with cosmetics and fragrances.
Officers patrolling nearby arrived at the shopping center to find a vehicle leaving the parking lot that matched the description witnesses provided. The car headed north onto Highway 101, where officers pulled it over and learned it was a rideshare, police said.
