Snow and recall leader Ken King sharply disagree over whether a related lawsuit chilled free speech or protected residents from intimidation, and the recall group now plans a citizen initiative targeting city spending, downtown revitalization, and perceived corruption. 
• Family demands justice 1 year after boy killed at National City vacant house party (nbcsandiego.com) — A Lemon Grove family is still searching for justice a year after 12-year-old Elijah Smith was killed and four others were injured during a shooting at a vacant house party in National City. Struggling with grief, they’ve moved from their home, sought support groups, and are pleading for witnesses or the gunman to come forward so the case doesn’t fade away.
