13 Children Treated After Suspected Chlorine Leak At Livermore Pool
Three children were hospitalized following what fire officials suspect was a chlorine leak at a pool at The Club at Livermore.
LIVERMORE, CA — 13 children were treated for shortness of breath or lung irritation following a suspected chlorine release of the pool at The Club at Livermore, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
At around 4:36 p.m. Monday, LPFD and an ambulance were dispatched to give medical assistance at the health club on 2000 Arroyo Road, the department said. While they were there, several other occupants reported medical complaints. The engine captain suspected a chlorine release in the pool, and requested additional resources. In total three engines, one truck company, one hazardous materials team, two battalion chiefs, an EMS supervisor, and five ambulances responded to the scene, according to LPFD.
Three patients were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. The remaining 10 patients were assessed and released to their parents or guardians on-scene. The ages were not disclosed.
