18-Month-Old Girl Found Dead in Home
Police are investigating the death of a toddler found unresponsive in her home on Central Avenue.

Authorities Tuesday afternoon were investigating the death of an 18-month old girl, said Livermore police Sgt. Kevin Santin.
At 8:04 a.m., emergency crews were called to the 800 block of Central Avenue, off Northfront Road, to a report of an unresponsive baby. The girl was found dead in her crib by her primary caregiver, Santin said.
"We are treating it as we would any suspicious death or homicide," he said. "But it's too early in the investigation and (the death) has not been classified yet."

Investigators also are looking at the death as a possible case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is defined as the sudden, unexpected death of an infant under age 1 that cannot be explained by an autopsy.
During the initial investigation, police blocked off a portion of Central Avenue and taped off the home. About 11:30 a.m. an Alameda County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Bureau van arrived at the scene.
