2 Men Killed in I-580 Crash Near Livermore Sunday Identified

BREAKING: A fundraising campaign is underway to bring one of the victims home to his family in Illinois.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Two men who were killed in a crash on Interstate Highway 580 east of Livermore early Sunday morning were identified as Stockton residents Donovan Paramore and David Johnson, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Paramore, 19, was driving a Nissan sedan east on Highway 580 while Johnson, 21, was his passenger. They were struck from behind by a Chevrolet Tahoe near West Grant Line Road at about 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The Nissan was pushed off the road and smashed into a dirt embankment. Both Paramore and Johnson were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver, also from Stockton, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and is cooperating with the investigation, CHP officials said. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

CHP investigators have not said what led the Tahoe to smash into the Nissan. Numerous grieving messages have appeared on social media over the last few days on behalf of both victims.

The two were friends and collaborators. Johnson was a musician and had recently traveled to Korea. Paramore was originally from Chicago. A fundraising page on behalf of his family to bring him home to Illinois has raised $2,030 as of Tuesday evening. It is available at https://www.gofundme.com/donovan-laron-bell-homegoing.
