2024 Pedrozzi Scholars Announced

Pedrozzi Foundation proudly awards $503,000 in scholarships

The Pedrozzi Foundation proudly announces that $503,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 139 local students, with 22% of them being the first in their families to attend college. These scholars will pursue studies at community colleges, undergraduate, graduate, and vocational schools.

Ness Mazerlev, a senior from Livermore High School, expressed gratitude, stating, “Lately, I’ve been super stressed about paying for college; I feel like receiving this scholarship is a message from the world that someone believes in me, that someone believes I can do this.”

The newest Pedrozzi Scholars, along with their families and friends, gathered at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore for the Foundation’s annual recognition event. Recipients shared their educational plans, basked in congratulatory cheers, posed for photos, and departed with recognition items, including yard signs to showcase their pride in becoming Pedrozzi Scholars. Since 2008, the Pedrozzi Foundation has awarded $6.6 million to over 1,800 Livermore students.

It feels amazing to be recognized for my high school accomplishments and my future potential. The event also celebrated the 13 newest Pedrozzi Young Scholars, chosen for their outstanding academic achievements and exemplary behavior. The Pedrozzi Young Scholar Program fosters equity in opportunity for high-achieving students from Marylin Avenue STEAM Academy by providing support throughout their middle and high school years. The goal is for these young scholars to become Pedrozzi scholarship recipients in 2031.

While most Pedrozzi Scholarship funding originates from an endowment established by Livermore businessman Mario Pedrozzi, an increasing number of residents also contribute, often to honor peers, family members, and friends. This year, 30 scholarships are funded by donors.

The Rotary Club of Livermore Valley launched a scholarship fund in memory of Kevin Drake, a beloved Livermore educator, Rotarian, and community member. The inaugural recipient, Emma Dawson, a Culture Keeper in the Wellness Center at Livermore High School, embodies Drake’s legacy of service and support for students.

Euleena Trinh, aspiring to make a positive impact in healthcare by studying Data Science at UCLA, is the first recipient of the Robin Goldstone Memorial Scholarship. Established in memory and honor of Goldstone’s extensive career in computer science and service to the Livermore community, this scholarship is a testament to her lasting impact.

Sandy Patterson, who valued education's transformative power, inspired her son, Matthew Edwards, to endow a scholarship in her honor. The Sandy Patterson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a member of Livermore High School’s instrumental music programs, honoring the positive influence of engagement in high school music. The 2024 recipient, pianist and violinist Francis Nguyen, exemplifies dedication and talent in music education.

ABOUT THE PEDROZZI FOUNDATION
The Pedrozzi Foundation invests in Livermore students by awarding scholarships for college and career training, and supporting programs that prepare students for their educational journeys beyond high school. We believe all students deserve the chance to pursue their educational and career goals; financial constraints or lack of information should not be barriers. Every day, we create an impact by helping students achieve their dreams.

The Foundation was established by Mario Pedrozzi, a Livermore businessman who left his estate as a gift to the community. Others continue Mr. Pedrozzi’s legacy through generous donations to this unique and high-impact organization.

The Pedrozzi Foundation is the go-to resource for managing community-funded scholarships. This valuable service allows individuals and organizations to easily establish scholarships for Livermore students in honor of family, colleagues, and inspirational leaders. These scholarships can be funded individually, or others can be invited to contribute to the scholarship fund. The Pedrozzi Foundation’s experienced staff manages all the logistics, and no fees are charged for this service.
