LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore can expect another scorching weekend of triple-digit temperatures. The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning from Saturday at 11 a.m. until Sunday at 11 p.m. applying across the inland Bay Area.
The NWS warns of “dangerously hot conditions with temperatures in the 90s to near 110 inland. Overnight lows in the 60s in the valleys, 70s and 80s in the hills” throughout the North, East, and South bays, as well as the Santa Cruz mountains and interior Central Coast.
Livermore is expected to get some of the most heat. Highs are expected to climb to 96 Friday, but will feel like 99. Saturday will see highs of 108 (and feel like 111), and Sunday will see highs of 106 (and feel like 108.) Highs will remain at 101 Monday, then drop to 93 Tuesday. Temperatures will remain in the low 90s and upper 80s.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management has also issued a Spare the Air Alert for the region, warning of unhealthy air quality due to smog. Residents are advised to stay indoors except for in the early morning, and try to avoid driving to minimize car exhaust.

- Drink plenty of fluids
- Avoid spending time outside if possible, and stay out of the sun
- Know the signs of heat stroke, which include a throbbing headache, confusion, nausea, dizziness, fever, strong pulse, fainting, and more
- Keep the air conditioning on
- Wear loose and lightweight clothing
- Never leave young children or pets unattended in a vehicle
The community is welcome to escape the heat at any of its libraries:
- Civic Center Library: Open until 6 p.m. Friday, 10-5 Saturday, 10-6 Sunday
- Rincon Library: Open until 5 p.m. Friday, closed weekends
