LIVERMORE, CA — The Contra Costa County Coroner identified the 5-year-old boy who drowned Saturday at Bethel Island as Lucas Zhang of Livermore, according to the Bay Area News Group and KRON4.
Patch is awaiting further information from the coroner.
Lucas is believed to have been visiting his grandparents on Bethel Island, in a housing complex near the water Saturday, according to several reports. He fell into the water just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday. A diver from Con Fire found him at around 5:10 p.m., and crews began life-saving measures. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
