Bankhead Theater To Host 'Violins Of Hope'

Musicians from the Livermore-Amador Symphony will play music on restored violins played by Jewish musicians in the Holocaust.

LIVERMORE, CA — Violins always sound beautiful, but when there is deep history attached to them, the sound is even richer.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Livermore’s Bankhead Theater will host the Violins of Hope Concerts, when Livermore-Amador Symphony musicians will play music on restored violins once played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. The violins survived concentration camps, ghettos, pogroms, and many more painful aspects of Jewish history.

The concerts are sponsored by the East Bay Holocaust Education Center, and co-founder Avshi Weinstein will tell the stories of each of the instruments.
