Bobcat, Possibly Shot, Found In Livermore

The bobcat was rescued from a trail near Sycamore Grove Park but his injuries were so severe that he was euthanized.

LIVERMORE, CA -- A bobcat found in Livermore this weekend was euthanized, officials said Monday. The bobcat was found near a trail in Sycamore Grove Park, wrote nonprofit rehabilitation center Lindsay Wildlife Experience on Facebook.

The group said there were multiple calls about the injured bobcat but rescuers did not find the animal until Sunday. Officials said radiographs showed the animal may have been shot.

"He was emaciated and unable to stand," the Walnut Creek-based nonprofit wrote. "The injuries were severe enough that treatment would not be successful for the animal to be released into the wild and hospital staff made the difficult decision to euthanize the bobcat."
