Brush Fire Spreads Near I-580 In Livermore

Traffic was backed up on the interstate and on Carrol Road.

LIVERMORE, CA — A vegetation fire burned near I-580 in Livermore Wednesday and caused traffic delays in multiple areas.

The fire was "fully contained" to about 8 acres, Cal Fire tweeted Wednesday around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters stayed at the scene to ensure all flames were completely extinguished.

Traffic had been backed up on the interstate. Carrol Road at Altamont Pass Road was also closed, California Highway Patrol said.

A SigAlert was issued earlier in the afternoon. Delays were expected on westbound I-580 between North Flynn Road and Greenville Road, California Highway Patrol said. It was cleared around 4 p.m.

The fire was reported off westbound I-580 east of Greenville Road at 12:53 p.m., according to the PulsePoint app.
