Caltrans to Close Portion of Interstate 580 in Livermore

Freeway closure between Airway Boulevard and North Livermore Avenue scheduled to begin Wednesday morning to remove falsework.

Caltrans has scheduled closures on Interstate 580 to remove falsework at the Isabel Avenue Bridge in Livermore, beginning Wednesday morning. This work will require a full closure of the freeway, and traffic will be detoured.

There will also be various lane closures prior to the full freeway closures. Falsework is a temporary structure that supports the components of the bridge during construction.

Closures for westbound I-580, between North Livermore Avenue and Airway Boulevard are scheduled from 12 to 3 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Motorists will use the following detour: Exit via North Livermore off-ramp, to North Livermore Avenue, Portola Avenue, East Airway Boulevard, Kitty Hawk Road, and return to westbound I-580.

Closures for eastbound I-580, between Airway Boulevard and North Livermore Avenue, are scheduled from 1 to 5:30 a.m. on Saturday and from 1 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Motorists will use the following detour: Exit via Airway off-ramp, to Kitty Hawk Road, East Airway Boulevard., Portola Avenue, North Livermore Avenue, and return to eastbound I-580.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. Please drive cautiously and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
