Coroner IDs Motorcyclist Killed By Truck On 580

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau confirmed the identity of a 27-year-old motorcyclist killed last Thursday on westbound 580 in Livermore.

LIVERMORE, CA - The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has released the name of a motorcyclist killed after he was hit by a big-rig truck on I-580 last Thursday.

Miguel Bernardino, a 27-year-old man from Merced, was killed Thursday at about 5:40 a.m. on westbound 580 near the North Livermore Avenue off-ramp, the coroner’s bureau confirmed to Patch. Initial reports from CHP said that Bernardino was traveling quickly between lanes, and tried to get in between a sedan and a semi-truck. According to a report from Pleasanton Weekly, Bernardino lost control of his motorcycle for unknown reasons, and was thrown onto the freeway directly in front of the truck, which ran him over. The truck driver stayed and cooperated with authorities.

CHP issued a SigAlert and closed down several lanes, snarling rush-hour traffic.
